An interview with Ute Leube, founder

No one is more surprised than Ute that her simple love of nature blossomed into a thriving business. Inspired by books on plants and healing, Ute began blending her own skincare in the early 1970s. Though quality raw materials were hard to obtain at the time, her efforts ensured that what she put on her body was chemical-free. She honed her skills mixing body oils and face creams for her friends and family, and realized just how much she enjoyed sharing them.

Ute credits the discovery of essential oils and their unique and powerful healing properties as the pivotal point in her career. Her focus shifted from creating natural products, to discovering

how to "unlock nature's treasure chest" and formulate truly beneficial skincare that would heal, nurture and beatify the skin.

Her desire for deeper knowledge and trust in nature's wisdom tipped off a global search for the best plants cultivated in their ideal growing regions, where they naturally thrive.

Ute's passion and partnerships laid the groundwork for her latest venture: Amala.

Amala is the culmination of her life's work and understanding of the beautifying benefits of whole plant ingredients. As her knowledge of plants and their extracts grew, so did the importance of striving for higher and higher quality. Maintaining the integrity of each plant ingredient preserves its beauty, power and unique healing benefits. Amala's potent active ingredients are obtained through organic, regenerative farming practices that benefit the earth and our farm partners who grow them.

It's the power of the whole plant that separates Amala from the bunch. It takes organic skincare from simply "safer and purer" to potent skin treatments that nurture and beautify the skin and our world.

And beauty according to Ute transcends the conventional: "Beauty is life itself. It's a smile, a plant, a nice word. Beauty is anything that touches us positively - it goes far beyond any generally accepted beauty standard."

Ute is an inspiration to all who meet her, and it's not surprising so many have joined her on her journey to reconnect people with nature and reacquaint us with true beauty.
