We believe sustainability is a collaborative effort that requires more than a financial contribution. We invest 5% of our total profits into our farmers' businesses and communities each year, and we also invest our time—working alongside the farmers as they grow our plants and grow their businesses.
Our collaboration allows us to contribute to the regeneration of the land, betterment of the community and success of the farm.
Our organic Cocoa Bean is cultivated in the Huallage region of Peru by our friend and partner, Ofelia Burgos. Amala's featured farm partnership for 2009 is the Burgos family farm, which has recently faced some environtmental and human-driven adversity. The farm and surrounding community will benefit from 5% of our profits this year, in addition to the money we'll pay for our plant ingredients from them. We're delighted by our collaboration with Ms. Burgos, which will help protect and sustain her farm and community through regenerative organic agriculture, responsible harvesting and fair trade business practices.
