In the Spotlight: Detoxify Firming Body Treatment

amala_newsletterheader_detoxfirming
Skeptical about skin firming body products? So was Dr. David Hauck, our lead natural chemist. But after 90% of women in our clinical tests showed firmer skin in 4 weeks, we’re all believers in the Detoxify Firming Body Treatment.

When David set out to formulate a firming body treatment with tangible, proven benefits, he had no idea that the clinical results would exceed his expectations. His objective was “to formulate a firming body treatment we knew would have tangible short and long term results, and could also be backed with clinical proof.” After years of research, sourcing organic ingredients, and blending the right balance of whole botanicals, David and his team achieved a goal that even they were initially skeptical about.

In a 28 day clinical test:*

_ 100% of women who used the product showed an improvement in skin hydration

_ 95% demonstrated an improvement in skin smoothness

_ 90% experienced a significant increase in firmness.

The proof is in the clinical results, but the pride stems from being patient and taking the time to understand that nature provides incredibly potent, powerful plant essences that when blended in the right way can have immediate and lasting effects on the skin.

We asked David a few questions about the Firming Body Treatment formula and its ingredients—read on to discover more.

Q+A with Dr. David Hauck

Q: Why is organic Myrtle an important ingredient in the firming treatment?

DH: Many people associate Myrtle only with its fresh, herbal aroma, but it has much more to offer the skin than fragrance. Because of its potent known antibacterial, antioxidant and toxin-fighting properties, Myrtle effectively cleanses and detoxifies the skin. It helps increase cell metabolism and supports the body’s normal detoxification system by strengthening and energizing it to shed toxins. It’s like coffee for your cells!

And of course, Myrtle’s aromatherapeutic natural fragrance is pleasing to the senses and clarifying to the mind.

Q: How does Amala’s Sea Algae tone and firm the skin?

DH: Our Sea Algae has exceptional firming properties. It functions both topically and beneath the surface, helping to stabilize and firm up the many layers of the skin. It also helps halts the destruction of healthy cells, encouraging firmer, denser tissue. Finally, by protecting the flexibility of cells, the Sea Algae leaves skin more supple.

Amala’s algae is harvested from western France on the Atlantic coast. The area is a protected and sustainable eco-reserve, where the purer waters are much less exposed to pollution and heavy metals.

Q: What are the benefits of organic Apricot Kernel Oil? Does it have any unique properties besides hydrating?

DH: On the surface, Apricot Kernel keeps the skin flexible. But more importantly, Apricot Kernel oil is very rich in a type of unsaturated essential fatty acid called Linoleic acid. Linoleic acid, which mimics the natural oils of your skin, can’t be produced by the body, but is absolutely crucial for cell health and metabolism. Apricot Kernel is also antioxidant, strengthening and protecting the skin against external toxins. Think of the oil as an invisible protective barrier for the body, shielding it from pollution and other impurities.

Q: Can you talk about the clinical studies?

DH: We know it’s easy to be skeptical of “firming” body products. Here at the Amala Laboratories, our objective was to formulate a firming body treatment we knew would have tangible short and long term results, and could also be backed with clinical proof.

Our studies found that in 28 days, 100% of women who used the product showed an improvement in skin hydration, 95% demonstrated an improvement in skin smoothness, and 90% experienced a significant increase in firmness. The results are tremendous and speak for themselves.

Rancho La Puerta

Recently, Amala Founder, Ute Leube, some Amala staff and a few magazine editors visited Rancho La Puerta.

Founded 70 years ago, Rancho La Puerta is a picturesque destination spa in Tecate, Mexico. The spa specializes in wellness for the body and mind, and as we all found out, that starts with your first view of the 3,000 sq ft. property and first whiff of the abundant flowers and fragrant vines.

Rancho La Puerta now exclusively uses Amala products, and we were all there to experience the treatments first-hand and to learn about the rich history of the spa. And of course enjoy the hiking, healthy eating and general unwinding that the spa is renowned for.

Here are a just a few photos from our trip, and we can’t wait to introduce Deborah - one of the spa’s founders - in an upcoming post.

Amala in Vanity Fair

amala-distillation-spread

With a laugh, Amala founder Ute Leube recalls that “25 years ago, being green meant you were a tree hugging Museli eater.” Fast-forward to 2010. If the word “green” brings to mind peace vans, well, think again. With the introduction of brands such as Amala (which, translated from Sanskrit means “most pure,” in Tibetan, “revered mother, and in Spanish, “love her”) into the beauty world, the territory of green skin care is forging new ground.

Since the stateside launch of this brand one year ago, the German-based skin care line has planted itself as a staple in luxury hotel spas such as the Mandarin Oriental in New York, Fontainebleau in Miami, the Four Seasons in Chicago, and the Jumeirah in Dubai. And, with stunning success, Amala’s founder Ute Leube has bridged the gap between the worlds of luxurious, effective (but chemically based) skin products and environmentally friendly, green skin care.
